Will Nathan Fillion join the cast of CBS' "Star Trek"?
"Castle" alum Nathan Fillion is rumored to be joining the upcoming CBS series "Star Trek."
According to Fansided, fans of Fillion are campaigning for the actor to be given the role of the newest Star Trek Captain.
The publication noted that the rumor first came about online after a blog called "Scifi Obsession" published an article suggesting that Fillion could be given the role of Star Trek Captain.
However, the article was merely just a plea to CBS to consider Fillion for the part. Towards the end of the article, the publication also encouraged fans of "Star Trek" and of Fillion to come together so that the network could notice them.
Meanwhile, Fillion is currently not engaged in any new TV projects. Following the cancellation of "Castle," the actor's IMDb page revealed that he will star in three new movies.
This year, two of the three movies will be released, namely, "Yamasong: March of the Hollows" and "Henchmen." The former is currently in post-production, while the latter is still filming.
Fillion will play the role of Shojun in "Yamasong: March of the Hollows," but he will just be lending his voice to give life to Captain Superior in "Henchmen."
Fillion's third movie "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" will be released in 2017. In the film, he will be playing the role of Simon Williams.
In other news, ABC recently received backlash from fans for their decision to cancel "Castle" after eight seasons.
Ahead of their announcement, the network first confirmed that Stana Katic and Tamala Jones will no longer return to the show for season 9.
They later on said that they have already finalized deals with Fillion, Jon Huertas and Seamus Dever.
However, in the end, the network confirmed that "Castle" season 9 is no longer a go.
"Castle" season 8 aired its final episode on May 16 at 10 p.m. ET.
