Star Trek 4' movie news: Fourth installment already being planned prior to release date of 'Star Trek: Beyond'

Rumors of "Star Trek 4" are going wild even though the third installment to the science fiction series reboot hasn't been released yet.
Interest in "Star Trek 4" increased dramatically after TrekMovie confirmed that Paramount Pictures registered the title with the Motion Picture Association of America on Saturday.

While this doesn't guarantee that the movie is a go, this does make it possible for the film to come into life in the future, as registering the title is a necessary step for any movie. Several reports have noted that this also hints that Paramount is confident that the upcoming "Star Trek" will be well-received by the public.
Writer Simon Pegg has also hinted in mid-April about "subsequent film adaptations," which means that fans may not see the end of the "Star Trek" movie franchise with "Star Trek: Beyond." A snippet of an interview with Pegg can be viewed at Movies.com.
Should a fourth movie receives the green signal, fans already know that Chris Pine and Zachary Quinto are already on board. According to a report by The Hollywood Reporter back in June 2015, the two actors have received pay raises for the third film with the condition that Paramount Pictures was granted an option for a fourth installment.
Meanwhile, "Star Trek: Beyond," the third of the series, is set to be released on July 22 in the United States. The movie will see the return of Chris Pine as Captain Kirk, Zoe Saldana as Uhura, and Zachary Quinto as Spock. John Cho, Karl Urban, and Anton Yelchin are also included in the returning cast.
