Star Trek: Where Are They Now, Patrick Stewart

On Captain Picard day, I wanted to look at what the veteran actor of film, stage and television has been getting up to after his Star Trek career came to an end

 Secret celebrity Star Trek Fans

For a man of 75 years, Sir Patrick Stewart is a lively fellow. The Star Trek legend is rarely out of the news headlines these days, whether he is speaking about political issues such as the Brexit, winning legions of social media fans or reading minds in the X-Men franchise. He is one of the few actors from Star Trek: The Next Generation that has gone on to achieve a fair amount of success in various roles outside of the Star Trek universe. For Trekkies, however, Sir Patrick Stewart will always be the noble, hairless captain, Jean-Luc Picard. I wanted to have a look at what the good captain has been up to since leaving the role.

X-Men Franchise

It’s hard to believe, but the first incarnation of the X-Men was 16 years ago. In 2003, Stewart made his first appearance as the powerful mind-controlling and wheelchair-bound Professor Charles Xavier. The movie was a phenomenal success and spawned a rather large franchise with several spin-offs. X-Men 2 followed in 2003, a year after nemesis, X-Men 3 in 2006 and X-Men Origins: Wolverine in 2009. X-Men: Days of Future Past was his last appearance in 2009, although he is scheduled to appear in another Wolverine sequel; the last chapter possibly? He also lent his voice to the X-Men movies.

Blunt Talk

This year, Stewart has been acting as a talk show host in the television series, Blunt Talk. As well as interviewing guests, Stewart has a whole load of skeletons in his closet and they slowly start to fall out as the show progresses. The show is incredibly funny and he plays the character well, earning rave reviews from all the television rating sites such as IMDB and Rotten Tomatoes.

Green Room

Sir Patrick played a darker character than he was used to in this psychological thriller. He leads a gang of crazy skinheads who kidnap and torture a young band. The band is then left in a fight for their lives and Stewart plays the evil leader of the gang.
See the trailer below:
Sir Patrick Stewart is not keen to settle down and retire just yet as he continues to film and voice new projects on both television and in movies. He has voiced characters in a new movie called Spark, the hit show American Dad and the hilarious movie Ted. I think that we can expect to see much more from Captain Picard.
And for those who want to see an old image of Sir Patrick with hair..
