Spock Documentary Close To Funding Goal
Adam Nimoy‘s documentary on his father, For the Love of Spock, has raised much of the money necessary for the movie but more is needed to hit the goal of $600,000 before the fundraiser expires on July 1.
The documentary will only be created if the entire amount is funded.
As of this writing, the Kickstarter has raised $551,332 of the $600,000 needed. It has been helped along by William Shatner, who in spite of his busy schedule, has been promoting it daily via his Twitter account. Shatner has also asked other Twitter personalities with large followings to join in and help to make it to the goal. “Tweet your followers to consider helping @adam_nimoy with raising money for [the documentary], he said, adding the link to the fundraiser.
Jonathan Frakes has also asked fans to help fund the documentary. “One more push for @LoveOfSpock,” he said. “Get in before July 1.”
For the Love of Spock “is a tribute film to Leonard Nimoy and Mr. Spock and will be released in time for the 50th anniversary of the original series. Zachary Quinto has agreed to be the narrator and tweeted about the film on his first day on set. Adam Nimoy has already interviewed William Shatner, George Takei and Walter Koenig.”
With only less than $50,000 needed, the goal is reachable. If you’ve thought about contributing to this project, now’s the time. Head here to read all about it and to help fund For the Love of Spock.
